SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / – During the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London, Samsung Electronics announced its latest lineup of foldable smartphones, featuring the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean technology company upgraded all three models with fresh physical designs, enhanced camera systems, and integrated AI capabilities. This launch introduces an Ultra class within their foldable device portfolio for the first time—offering enterprise users a super-slim form factor measuring 4.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighing 215 grams.

The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs just 201 grams and features a new design that makes it the lightest book-style folding smartphone ever produced by the company. Its cover screen sports a 10:16 aspect ratio while the main display uses a 4:3 ratio, allowing content to adapt seamlessly to various activities like browsing, reading, or watching videos. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a smooth 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and can reach peak brightness of 3,000 nits under Vision Booster technology. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery, it aims to deliver high performance.

To enhance structural integrity while reducing thickness, Samsung developed its proprietary Flex Titanium display architecture specifically for premium foldables. This system combines a titanium-alloy film with an underlying titanium support plate to absorb impacts, distribute mechanical stress, and minimize visible creases over multiple folds. Recalibration of hinge balance, magnetic force attraction, and display tension ensures smoother opening actions. Additionally, outdoor visibility is improved through a low-reflection coating that maintains color vibrancy in bright lighting conditions.

    Enhanced Hardware and Multitasking Features

The top-tier Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra extends the display size to an 8.0-inch QXGA+ primary screen alongside a secondary cover display measuring 6.5 inches. Designed for intensive multitasking and media creation tasks, this model incorporates a 200-megapixel main sensor with High Dynamic Range support along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto module. For professional mobile videography workflows, it supports recording in 8K resolution using the APV video codec combined with Cine LUT color management tools for advanced editing capabilities.

Inside this model lies an upgraded cooling system made of expanded graphite designed to improve heat dissipation during demanding computational activities. It operates on a powerful 5,000 mAh dual-cell battery supported by a fast-charging architecture delivering up to 45W via dual paths—optimally distributing power across both cells. System configurations offer up to 16GB RAM along with up to 1TB of storage space on One UI 9 based on Android 17 operating system.

Intelligent Software Features and Market Introduction

Alongside these larger foldables was the unveiling of Samsung’s clamshell Galaxy Z Flip8—a compact device measuring only 6.1 millimeters thick when unfolded and weighing just 180 grams. It features a Super AMOLED cover display at 4.1 inches as well as a main screen measuring six point nine inches in size. The phone sports a primary camera sensor of fifty megapixels plus a battery capacity of four thousand three hundred mAh. Across all three models—the software includes AI-powered tools such as Gemini Intelligence, Now Brief, and Now Nudge developed in collaboration with Google—these functions automate background workflows,
    streamline complex file summaries,
and optimize app navigation for enhanced user efficiency.
