EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have finalized a five-year agreement valued at up to US$500 million aimed at wheat supply. This agreement marks the operationalization of a 2023 financing structure, facilitating Egypt’s import needs. Through financing from the Abu Dhabi Exports Office, Al Dahra will provide imported wheat to GASC, establishing a purchase mechanism under the existing program.

The signing took place at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026, with Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, also GASC’s chair, present at the event. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, was also in attendance. The announcement did not specify details regarding wheat volumes, shipment schedules, origins, or pricing formulas for the agreement.
The financing plan was initiated in August 2023 when ADEX and Egyptian authorities introduced a revolving wheat import program, initially set at US$100 million, with yearly renewals over five years and a maximum of US$500 million. GASC joined this arrangement along with Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance. The 2026 wheat supply agreement now provides the operational basis for GASC’s purchases from Al Dahra within that financing framework.
Operationalization of the 2023 financing plan
ADEX, which functions as the export-financing entity of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, extends financing linked to purchases from Emirati exporters. In 2023, it stated that its Egypt facility would support wheat and other essential commodities supplied via Al Dahra. This program established a five-year structure for those transactions with GASC. The current agreement sustains this framework and sets the operational terms for Al Dahra’s imported wheat supplies.
Al Dahra has been operating in Egypt since 2007, maintaining agricultural activities in Toshka and East Oweinat. In 2023, the company reported farming roughly 28,000 hectares across the country. During the past three years, it supplied more than 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government. This week, Al Dahra announced that its broader agricultural platform now supplies over 40 markets worldwide.
Al Dahra’s presence in Egypt since 2007
While the August 2026 agreement pertains to imported wheat, Al Dahra also produces agricultural commodities locally. In 2023, it identified itself as Egypt’s largest private-sector wheat and corn producer, with approximately 85% of its Egyptian farm output sold domestically. The new agreement addresses imported wheat delivered to GASC through the ADEX program, not the separate US$500 million financing arrangement announced earlier.
This five-year agreement follows the financing framework announced three years prior, rather than establishing a new US$500 million facility. The total wheat tonnage covered by the deal, along with shipment schedules, supplier origins, or pricing details, have not been disclosed. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the confirmed arrangement remains a five-year wheat supply program valued at up to US$500 million, financed through ADEX.
